From behind the screen, people feel empowered to disregard social norms when interacting with others on the internet, and women face an especially hostile environment on the web. Sourcing messages I have personally received, I wanted to force others to confront these uninvited messages, and bring this behavior out from hiding behind the privacy of the screen.
This project took many forms, from projecting the messages in public using laser cut stencils and a flashlight, to creating an interactive and overwhelming website where others could contribute to and free themselves of the inappropriate and unwarranted messages they've received.
